Village Friends

Village Friends is an over 60’s group of men and women organised by a small committee who saw the need for a friendship group for elderly residents of the villages of Felsham, Cockfield, Gedding, Bradfield St Clare, Bradfield St George and Lt Whelnetham. We meet once a month approximately and enjoy tea or lunch together. There is no charge for those who join us for tea or Christmas lunch. A subsidised charge for lunches in July and September. Our expenses are largely covered by donations and a raffle held at each meeting and generous funding from the Felsham Charity.

The group first began in the Moat House, Felsham and later also met in West Lodge in Bradfield St George. In 2020 it began to meet in Felsham Village Hall as it has better accessibility, good heating and comfy chairs! The group is sponsored by the Cockfield benefice which is made of the six local parish churches of the villages it serves.

We support organisations such as ‘Link to Hope’ where we fill shoe boxes for elderly people in Eastern European countries. Our ‘bring and buy’ sale every summer generates funds to support a chosen charity which varies each year.

During Covid-19 restricted times, the volunteers that help run Village Friends have been delivering a ‘tea’ to all the members once a month on the day when they would normally be meeting.
